Dr. John The Night Tripper Debut! |
Dr John ‘’The Night Tripper’’ Gris’ ‘Gris’ 1st UK Pressing Plum\red Atlantic labels #1#1 matrix endings! 1968 ((stereo)) Awesome original Very rare to find! Top Top Audio! Dr. John (also Dr. John Creaux) is the stage name of Malcolm John Rebennack Jr. (born November 21, 1940), a colorful pianist, singer, and songwriter, whose music spans, and often combines, blues, boogie woogie, and rock and roll!! Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, his musical career began as a session musician in New Orleans in the 1950s. He originally concentrated on guitar before his left ring finger was injured by a gunshot while Rebennack was defending singer/keyboardist Ronnie Barron, his bandmate, Jesuit High School classmate, and longtime friend!!!. After the injury, Rebennack concentrated on bass guitar before making piano his main instrument; pianist Professor Longhair was an important influence on Rebennack!! Dr. John the Night TripperRebennack gained fame beginning in the late 1960s and early 1970s, with music that combined New Orleans-style rhythm and blues with psychedelic rock and elaborate stage shows that bordered on voodoo religious ceremonies, including elaborate costumes and headdress. For a time he was billed as "Doctor John, The Night Tripper". The name "Dr. John" came from a legendary Louisiana voodoo practitioner of the early 1800s. Gris-Gris, his 1968 debut album, was highly-ranked on Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time!!. The vinyl This is the original heavy thick and chunky type of vinyl with deeper grooves more robust than later pressings! On initial inspection the vinyl lays perfetly flat on the turntable! and looks awesome still retaining its original sheen from new! And indeed looks like new! IN FACT THIS LOOKS HARDLY EVER PLAYED!! Initially i can't see a blemish on the playing surface! any marks that could possibly be seen under a strong light would be mainly whyspy sleeve removal marks only! I CAN'T SEE ANY MARKS THAT WOULD EFFECT THE PLAY AT ALL! The Audio I have played this vinyl through track for track on a top system at loud volume!,,, The audio is awesome!, cristal lear and vibrant all of the way through with no signs of distortion or that this has been overplayed at all!!! (no) clicks or pops and certainly (no) skips or jumps! i would class my self as highly critical Please look at my completed listings of records that i have sold of this calaber and you will see that i normally get it right!!!! Please note! Please allow for the odd static crackle\tick here and there espeially in some quiet places (not) consistant threoughout the audio! I had noticed some light interfearance at the intro of the 1st track on side 2 probably caused by dirt. That's all! As soon as the audio kicks in it sounds awesome! I MUST EMPHISIZE THAT THE AUDIO IS CRISTAL CLEAR AND VIBRANT WITH BARELY\MINIMAL INTERFEARANE THAT I COULD HEAR AT ALL!!! Points to note! This has been stored in a case laying dormant for at least 25 years! A build up of dirt anmd dust over the years trapped in the grooves causes statick crackle\ticks. From my experiance a onstant clean before each play reduces this problem and subsequently enhances the audio quality! PLEASE NOTE! i ALWAYS ADD THIS DISCLAIMER! Please allow for the odd static crackle\ticks not consistant throughout the audio! Please remember that this is an original (not a reissue) ,vinyl that is unbeleivably 40 years old. ,, and would have been originally played on a 40 year old system! The labels These look as new! NO VISABLE SIGHNS OF SPIDERING OR THAT THIS HAS BEEN PLAYED AT ALL!!! THE 1ST AND EARLIEST LABEL VARIATIONS TO MY KNOWLEDGE! The Cover This is the original 1st issue MacNeil Press laminated front cover in superbe conditioon for 40 years old!! Very very small inobtrusive creases\storageware only must grade at least excellent!
